Ok, so it's to been a silent war against weaves and natural hair. Many young girls feel as though with a weave installed life is easier and it's hard to maintain your natural hair without it. Or some just don't like the natural look! But the ones that's all about natural hair seem to think that weaves are just a stumbling block to growing out your natural hair and actually caring for it.🤔
But who says you can't combine the too?? You don't have to comprise your look to care for your hair and whenever you get the itch to wear a weave it's not a sin. Lol!😭
When I went to Cosmetology School the first thing they taught us was the science of hair! The foundation and the breakdown of each strand from the root to the shaft to the ends. We got taught about the scalp and different diseases that can contribute to flaky scalp or dandruff.
So, as a hairstylist I take that information and I use it to be concious of the products I use or the way I handle the hair under my care. And what I learned from that is hair care is not this long drawn out boring process. A lot of times it can just be a few simple steps.😊
Again, why can't you combine the two?! Why can't a sewin be an effective protective style for the one person that guard their natural hair with their life?! Lol. Why can't the girl that don't want to comprise her look and style for twist outs or wash and go's have healthy hair.
There is a happy medium between the two but the three steps we gotta keep in mind when we have our weaves installed are:
1)DO NOT BRAID ALL OF YOUR EDGES! Keep those things out!!!! I mean that's the most sensitive part of you head so please keep them out!
2)DO NOT PUT HEAT ON YOUR NATURAL HAIR MORE THAN TWICE A WEEK! And please be mindful to put oil on your hair before applying heat beacuase your strands will pop and break. Plus too much of something is never good so try to ease off the heat every 2 days!
3)KEEP HAIR PROTECTED! So very important! Please know when you're sleeping on cotton sheets without a silk wrap scarve and moving side to side, them strands are being rubbed out also! No durags, No cotton bandanas, or No bonnets! They DO NOT hold any oil to your hair and the bonnets do not keep your hair in place for it to last long!
Remeber we want our hair to be versatile and these three simple steps will allow us to combine weaves with natural hair care!
